Forecast of Volcanic Ash Clouds
The module "Forecast of Volcanic Ash Clouds" provides quantitative forecasts of volcanic ash hazards, focusing on ash fallout and atmospheric dispersion caused by explosive eruptions at various volcanoes. Forecasts are updated in near real-time and indicate the probability that ash ground load or atmospheric concentration will exceed specific thresholds. The thresholds used are 0.5 kg/m² and 5 kg/m² for ground load, and 0.2 mg/m³, 2 mg/m³, and 4 mg/m³ for atmospheric concentration. The module also provides estimates of ash deposition on the ground at locations of interest, such as cities and critical infrastructure.
